eSIM Guide for Southeast Asia: Thailand, Bali & Beyond

Connectivity in Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia's mobile infrastructure has improved dramatically in recent years. Major cities like Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Ho Chi Minh City have excellent 4G and 5G coverage. Rural and island areas vary, but you will generally have service in tourist-frequented areas.
Country-by-country overview
Thailand: Excellent coverage from AIS and DTAC. Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui have 4G everywhere. More remote islands may have 3G only.
Indonesia (Bali): Bali has solid 4G in tourist areas. More rural parts of Indonesia can be patchy. Telkomsel is the most reliable carrier.
Vietnam: Viettel covers most of the country with 4G. Urban areas have strong connectivity. Ha Long Bay and rural highland areas may drop to 3G.
Malaysia: Excellent 4G coverage from Maxis and Celcom. Kuala Lumpur has 5G. Borneo (Sabah, Sarawak) has coverage in cities and tourist areas.
Singapore: One of the best-connected countries in the world. Blanket 5G coverage across the entire island.
Philippines: Globe and Smart offer improving 4G coverage. Manila, Cebu and popular tourist islands (Palawan, Boracay) are well covered.
